It is my absolute dream to visit the Grand Hotel, on Mackinac Island. It reminds me of Miss Marple solving a crime off the seaside. I have day dreams of getting dressed up and sipping tea in the Parlor, strolling and getting lost on the 660-feet long front porch, checking out the the lobby which contains several shops, a tea store and salon, and last but not least taking a dip in the 220 feet long and shaped like a long serpent. The pool is named for Esther Williams. She starred in This Time for Keeps a 1949 movie filmed at the Grand Hotel!! We will be saving and saving for this little adventure. I’m pretty sure Bo is tired of me yammering on and on about it. So I think we better go pretty soon!

Good Thursday afternoon to you… Mackinac Island is everything that you are thinking it will be. Wally and I enjoyed a 4 night/5 day vacation there 2-1/2 years ago and I am planning a return visit with my 3 cousins (all girls’ trip) in the summer of 2012. It’s an awesome time. My favorite was the evening meals which were very formal, dressy occasions, served by courses, and accompanied by a 3 piece jazz band. The island was nice in October, but I’m looking forward to our summertime visit when all the flowers should be in bloom. The small island has 17 fudge shops and we really enjoyed the 8 mile bicycle ride around the island and the road was on the level of the lake, really awesome! Have fun whenever you can arrange to go!
