I got crowns of words a woven each one a song to sing
While the world is sometimes cruel, the cool weather reminds us that life is more often beautiful and each day is truly a gift. We have been wanting to take our first official set of “family portraits” since Emory came to live with us and tonight we hurried out after a busy day to a place we have visited before and seem to gravitate to again and again. The Van Zandt Cottage is a gem – although shuttered – that few in Fort Worth know about. Tucked behind the museum district, the cottage and its small plot of land is one of those places where you can go and modern life briefly fades into the background. The cottage itself is simple, but is beautiful in its own way. Emory was curious, and the brief time on the porch was more than he could handle…entire sensory overload. As the night got chilly, we grabbed dinner at La Madeleine, because nothing says autumn like a lot of potatoes! Potato soup and potato galletes and lots of bread and butter and Bo had his coffee. A chocolate torte to go, and the night felt like we had ushered fall in and life truly is beautiful when you embrace the beauty of the simple life.
