“a single green light, minute and faraway, that might have been the end of a dock.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

It fell that the 4th of July gave us a three day weekend, and what to do? Well, it is time to rep the red white and blue! After we endured the night of no A/C during the typical July heatwave, we got it fixed and began to make preparations for the evenings holiday events. Banners were hung, sparkler bunches gathered, watermelon cut and processed for delicious watermelon smoothies and dressed (Mister Emory just had to have a new shirt!) to head to a Liles family gathering. Of course, our hearts were split between here and east Texas and we always carry our love on our sleeves, so to speak! After much yard play, we dined on burger sliders & kosher hot dogs, chips, baked beans, lemon cake and watermelon smoothies! We gave sparkler tutorials to the kids (Bo’s niece and nephew) and enjoyed the accompanying dance routines. The night was capped with a fireworks show from our front yard, and as the day wound down, we reflected on how great our life here really is.
